This journal article, by Don Kates, includes several arguments on how the second amendment does actually protect our rights to carry guns. It is actually a very recent article from 2009. Even though the second amendment is very short, this journal article pulls it apart piece by piece and is therefore pretty sizable in length.

This journal does seem as if it is drawing for straw, but this break down bring up several good points. Such as when it says that we have the right to self defense, then that means that we should be allowed to carry a gun if we believe that to be our form of self defense. All in all I agree with what this article says.
